The Myaka Skunk Ape Photos

16 years ago, two photographs, along with a typed letter were mailed to the Sarasota county Sheriffs department in Sarasota, Florida.

The writer of the note, an elderly woman, explained that something had been visiting her backyard and taking apples off of the porch. She managed to catch glimpses of the creature and she came to the conclusion that it was an escaped orangutan. Further on in the letter, however, she tends to contradict herself pertaining to the qualities of an orangutan, giving rise to a sense of false naivety.

She mentions that the thing smells bad and also that the thing is the size of about four large deer. If you know well enough what an orangutan looks like, then you probably know how big one is, and it is certainly not the size of four full grown deer, in fact, no living primate is that large. For this reason, and for the fact that she mentioned it smelled, makes me think that the writer of the letter may have been plying the reader into thinking this might, in fact, be some type of mystery ape. The yet to be documented mystery ape that hails from the south and smells bad is, you guest it, the skunk ape.

It is possible that this is merely a coincidence and the woman is truly naive when it comes to her identifications, and I myself can see why someone would think it looks like an orangutan because it most certainly does except it seems much larger.

Naturally, people have said that this photo is a hoax, but I have not came across a convincing argument to say that it is definitively a fake, but hey, if any of you have come across the smoking gun on these photos, feel free to post it in the comments.

The Gable Film (Michigan Dogman Hoax)

For me, the Gable film was one of the most intriguing pieces of crytozoological footage, I had ever seen. The 8mm film was alleged to have been purchased at an estate sale by an anonymous source. The footage was digitized and surfaced on the Internet in 2007.

The footage showed normal, everyday scenes of a family living a pleasant, rural lifestyle, riding snowmobiles, chopping wood, and working on trucks. Judging from the style of clothing and models of the vehicles, the footage appears to have been shot in the late 60’s to early 70’s.

The film soon takes a dark turn. The filmmakers are driving down a two track when they see something skulking by the tree line. They stop the car to get a better look. They get out of their vehicle only to be charged by this strange creature. It never gets up on two legs, but it is clearly a large, weird looking creature that has canid features. There are a few frames in this sequence that show a set pointy, canine teeth.

A second piece of footage is released and its contents were gory. It depicts Michigan state troopers documenting a bloody carcass. It appears to be the same man who is seen in the other piece of footage, except he is torn in have. One can only assume that this film is the property of the Michigan State Police and I don’t recall it ever being explained how this footage was released.

Like most things that are too good to be true, this alleged footage of a dogman murder was a well-crafted fake. Monster Quest interviewed the creature Mike Agrusa, where he explains in great detail how he had hoaxed the film.

Oneway Michigan Dogman Photo

There are two stories behind the 2004 Onaway, MI dogman photo, but both involve a young boy taking the picture in his families mini-van.

The first story involves the family hunting deer with relitives. With their kills gutted, the family climbs into their minivan to leave. The boy takes his seat in the back of the van. As the van rolled away, the boy turned around to see a huge, werewolf like creature standing over the gut pile and growling. He quickly grabbed his camera and snapped the picture.

The Second story involves the family pulling into a rest stop where they were going to take a break from their late night commute. As they came to a stop, they looked out the back window to see the fearsome creature baring its teeth and walking towards the van. The kid snapped the photo before they sped away into the night.

The Creature looks more like a bear than a wolf in my opinion and there are plenty of bears in northern Michigan. It is, none the less, a creepy photo. Tell me what you think it is in the comments.

Ohio’s Silver Creek Dogmen

A hunter in Norton, Ohio, has spotted a dogman, or bipedal wolf-like humanoid, not once, but twice. He was driving down Johnson road on a particularly chill Autumn evening in 2013, when Two deer leapt out in front of him. The deer were far enough away that he didn’t have to slam on the breaks, but rather came to a leisurely roll, afraid that more deer might run out in front of him. He slowly continued on when he saw what the deer were running from.

There were three of them, running in formation, one in front, two on the side. They were running bipedially and they were very fast and muscular, standing from 6 to 7 foot tall. They were dark in color, chocolate brown to black.

Less than a month later, the hunter saw two of the creatures again, on the same road. In a flash, they ran out from a field of full grown corn and leapt from the side of the road and into the field on the other side. They had to have been about 7 foot tall, or a little shorter, as they were as tall as the corn, which was about a foot taller than the hunter’s head who six foot tall. This time, the hunter noticed that one of them had a silver-ish, to white hair on its back and chest, which is a common characteristic of dogmen sightings.

I’ve seen in the comments that this area is actually fairly urban and would not lend too many hiding places for these creatures to reside without detection, however, I have heard of dogman/werewolf sightings happening in not just the suburbs, but in the middle of cities. That’s right, Tokka is real, ladies and gents.

The Dr. Reed Dead Alien Saga

Dr. Jonathan Reed was walking in the mountains when his dog started barking and took off. Concerned, the Dr. ran after his dog, only to find it fighting with a green, alien humanoid. As the Dr. was looking for something to defend himself with, the alien ripped the dog in half. Dr. Reed was lucky enough to find a large branch and bash in the things head. He noticed a craft, seemingly floating above some foliage. It was small, black and in the shape of an obilesque.

He ran back to his home to grab his camcorder so he could document the alien and the craft. The creature is still alive, yet unmoving as you can see it blinking. When Dr. Reed tries to video tape the craft, the film distorts as if the craft is creating some type of interference.

He wrapped the alien up in a thermal blanket and brings it to his garage where he further documents the alien body. Again, we can see it blinking, but that’s it, no other bodily movements, not even in the face. I guess the only conclusion is that the creature was paralyzed. Done with his investigation, he puts the live alien in the freezer, when it starts screaming… allegedly. He was afraid the body would rot, even though it is still alive.

Like with most cases involving alien encounters, Dr. Reed was hounded by ominous people who found out about his possession of the body and wanted him to hand it over along with a piece of mystery jewelry known only as “The Link Artifact”. This artifact was even alleged to have been anaylized by metallurgist/chemical engineers in Osaka, Japan in 1999.

Dr. Reed claims that he used the link several times and it started to change his body, allowing him access to communicate with an angel/light being known as “The Elder”. Here is Dr. Reed having a particularly bad, or good trip live and on the air, enjoy!

Well anyway, eventually, these shadow government people ripped up Jonathans house and all that stuff was stolen, including the alien sickle. In all my years following this case, I don’t think Dr. Reed ever mentioned what happened to the obilesque craft. Maybe it auto-piloted back its own planet, or maybe it was towed. Dr. Reed even claimed to have been shot by these shadow government people, but it is clearly just a bad make-up job.

If some seedy section of the government wanted Reed dead, he would be dead, they wouldn’t have settled for a pot shot at his shoulder. And Dr Reed is still out there to this day lecturing on his encounter. I guess you could argue that they have let him stay alive only because it would be too suspicious to kill him at this point.

I would argue that these shadow people, or even special interests groups would be afraid of killing someone who threatens their livelihood, or whatever ideology they stand for. Look at what happened to the guy who invented a car that ran on water. And this guy was waaaay more of a high profiled news figure than Dr. Reed.

Ultimately, the ufological community as a hoax generally accepts Dr. Reeds story, and I believe it is too. But damn, it’s still a great story.

The Kelly Green Men – Hopkinsville Goblin Incident

On the night of August 21st, 1955, Billy Ray Taylor was fetching some water while visiting the Sutton family farm in Kentucky, when he saw a large shiny object land in a gully near by. He ran back to the farmhouse to report his sighting to everyone, only to be met with skeptical sniggers.

Moments later, the family dog started barking, kicking up a bigger fuss than ever heard by the family. This prompted Billy and Lucky Sutton to grab rifles before they went out to investigate. They stepped out to see a creature, three to four foot tall walking towards the house with its hands up, as if to surrender to the men.

The creature had large eyes and a large head, a long but negligible slit for a mouth, and long, spindly arms and legs equipped with hands and feet that were equipped with claws. Startled by the appearance of the thing, the men released a volley of bullets at the thing. Apparently, none of their bullets hit, as the thing just did a back flip and ran into the nearby woods.

The men ran back into the house, only to see the creature, or another one just like it, at one of the windows. They shot, blasting holes in the screen. They went outside to see if they hit it this time. As they walked out onto the porch, a green, clawed hand reached down at the men. They shot, apparently missing again, as the thing leisurely jumped down and floated to the ground.

This interaction between the Suttons and the entities when on for a couple hours until they decided to make a break for it. They managed to make it to their trucks and drive into town where they sought the help of police. Over twenty officers arrived back to the farm with the Suttons. There was no sign of the creatures and after the police finished their observations and writing their reports, they left the farm at around 2:15 a.m.

To the family’s horror, the things soon returned after the police department’s departure, and again, the men shot at the things until they finally as the sun came up. Upon their second visit, the police decided to call in the air force. The Suttons were interviewed separately, and there were no discrepancies in anyone’s account of the ordeal. Years later, the family was interviewed again, and still, no ones story had changed.

The Dover Demon

A car full of teenagers was driving down a darkened rural road, in dover mass. One claimed to have seen a large eyed creature, with a bulbous head and tendril like fingers. The eyes were glowing and it appeared to be climbing over an old stone wall. William Bartlette was the one that saw it best, later creating the famous “Dover Demon” sketch.

John Baxter was walking through the woods that same night and claimed to see the same creature. Another young person, Abby Brabham, reported seeing the creature standing up, displaying its 4 foot tall stature. All three witnesses drew sketches of the creature and all three were very similar.

Known as the Mannegishi by the Cree Indians and Memegwesi by the Ojibwa, this little creature is thought to be very similar to the dover demon. Considered to be one of “the little people”, the memegwesi is a trickster, known to live in between the rocks of rivers and tip over canoes. Sometimes, pulling the hapless occupants into the whirlpools where they drown them.
